About
Roberto A. Keller is a research biologist who specializes in taxonomy, phylogenetics and morphological evolution in ants. He has a PhD from Cornell University and the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in Portugal.
He also has an interest in the history of science and (more dangerously) in the philosophy of biology. In his almost nonexistent spare time he enjoys trying to play the accordion and writing about himself in the third person.
This blog revolves around his ongoing research on ant comparative anatomy, phylogeny, and development and evolution of the caste system in social insects, in the hopes of making sense of his convoluted ideas and getting the occasional feedback from kind readers.

An explanation about the name of this blog can be found on this post.

Dear Roberto, ESAPOLIS insectarium is working on a new exhibition on social insects. It may be possible that we take in account to use some of your wonderful pictures. We kindly ask if we can freely use them, of course citing AMNH and you name as author.

Prezado Robert Keller,
Gracias!
Mr Keller — voce ainda esta no Portugal? Minha mulher e brasileiro entao falo um pouquinho. One day I hope to travel to that part of Europe. Real quick — I engage children and adults alike every now and then … I teach them about varying species of ants, nest structures, feeding habits, and more. I also talk about other critters like spiders. I was wondering if you happen to have any more SEMs as crisp as this one http://roberto.kellerperez.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/onychomyrmex-doddi-mandible.jpg
The detail is AMAZING and I would be thrilled to use anything that you’ve got. I would also be happy to sign anything stating that it’s for non-commercial use only.
Aguardo sua resposta. Atenciosament,
